The kit includes a plug for one side and your feet line goes in the other, giving you the option to put the gas holes up or down. The big problem with mine is how loudly it whistles when you turn up the gas to get higher flames for s'mores. At low volumes everything is fine. My black iron rings corroded after 7 years, I'm hoping this lasts longer.
Update - the vendor was very prompt in responding to my concern about whistling. The issue was resolved by rearranging the gas feedline into an s-curve to modify the gas flow.
